Subject: Incident on Bridge Road, Alum Rock – 3 March 2026
Date: 4 March 2026
From: The Rosary Catholic Primary School / St Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Trust
The school community of The Rosary Catholic Primary School is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic incident that occurred on Bridge Road yesterday afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the young man who lost his life, and with the woman who was injured. We would like to reassure our school community that the incident took place outside the school grounds and did not involve any of our pupils or staff members. Following the advice of West Midlands Police, the school was placed into an immediate and successful lockdown during the incident to ensure the safety of everyone on site. We are incredibly proud of how calmly our children and staff responded during this distressing time. The school is working closely with the St Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Company (MAC) to provide specialist support and counselling for any pupils or staff affected by the sight of the emergency response.
The school remains closed today, Wednesday 4 March, but is due to reopen on Thursday 5 March.
As this is an active investigation, the school will not be making any further comments regarding the details of the event. All further enquiries should be directed to West Midlands Police.
